Selected as 2018 Distillery of the Year, Copperworks Distilling Company is a distillery, tasting room, and retail store located on the waterfront in downtown Seattle, Washington. The company produces small-batch American Single Malt Whiskey, a series of gins, and vodka, all from malted barley. The spirits are distilled in traditional copper stills that were specifically designed for Copperworks and for the distillation of each individual spirit. Copperworks was founded by co-owners/distillers Jason Parker and Micah Nutt—both experienced craft beer makers, who built Copperworks to explore the possibilities of malted barley by distilling high-quality craft beer (without hops) into fine spirits.

Copperworks Northwest Washington Malt Vodka offers something different. Its base of Washington-grown malted barley gives it a subtle and distinctive barley essence and a soft, round mouth feel. It works equally well in a vodka-forward cocktail, like a vodka martini, and in cocktails where the vodka takes a backseat to other flavors.
Copperworks Northwest Small Batch Gin is distilled from a base of malted barley grown in Washington. It offers a distinctive, well-balanced combination of juniper and nine other botanicals—perfect for the classic Gin and Tonic or for more complex, gin-forward cocktails. It’s distilled from a base of Washington-grown malted barley in our hand-built Scottish copper stills. Copperworks Gin has won a number of regional, national and international awards, including a Gold Medal in the world’s largest beverage competition, Double Gold at the SF International SpiritS Competition, and Gold Medal (94 points) from the Beverage Testing Institute.
Copperworks Northwest Cask Finished Gin starts with a higher proof version of Copperworks Small Batch Gin and then is finished for around 100 days in full-size charred, new American Oak barrels. Finishing in new oak gives this gin an especially rich and complex flavor profile. The gin lends itself to enjoying neat, like you might drink a whiskey, and it adds new dimensions to gin and whiskey cocktails.

Copperworks American Single Malt Whiskey is created from 100% malted barley and twice-distilled in Scottish copper pot stills. Release 031 was created by combining six casks of whiskey distilled from our Five Malt recipe (similar to a Scotch Ale style beer) with one cask of whiskey distilled from a Single Variety Malt called “Full Pint” that was grown and malted in Washington State’s Skagit Valley. Adding the cask of Full Pint gives this release a distinctive depth of fruit flavors. All seven casks used in this release were aged for at least 32 months in charred, new American Oak.

Tasting Notes: aromas of browned butter, orange cream, and grapefruit peel followed by ripe blackberry and spice. Flavors of honeydew, cut hay, Thai basil, and melon rind lead to a finish of blackberry, tomato vine, fruit, and a slight, sweet brininess.
